Introduction to WinTICS-24

[About WinTICS-24]

Welcome to WinTICS-24! WinTICS-24 (Telescope Integrated Control System) is a versatile telescope control front end. It is designed to serve as a graphical user front end to text-based telescope control programs such as DFM TCS.

Although the original version of WinTICS-24 was coded to work with DFM TCS-486, WinTICS could easily be modified to work with any telescope control system that is capable of remote control via a serial port.

In addition to the telescope control functions, WinTICS-24 also contains a trig library (trig.bas) and an astronomical formulas library (astro.bas) based on Astronomical Algorithms by Jean Meeus, and several utility programs to assist the observer during their observing run.

WinTICS-24 evolved from a Hypercardprogram of the same name originally written by Steve Ratcliff of Middlebury College and extensively modified by R. Lee Hawkins and Paul Vader.

Note: Some minor changes to DFM TCS-486 are necessary before WinTICS can be used.

Notes on porting WinTICS-24 to work with non-DFM telescope control systems.

Availability:

NOTE: Unlike Version 1.0 of WinTICS, Version 2.0 is a 32-bit only version, so you will have to be running either Windows 95 or Windows NT to be able to use WinTICS.
